Scholarship

Scholarship Criteria

Applications will be available from January 9th to March 9th. The full application packet including all supporting documents must be received by the scholarship committee on or before March 19th.

 

The finalist will be virtually interviewed on the fourth Saturday of March.

 

All award notifications will be announced by April 9th.

 

Ned K. and Lillie V. White Scholarship support the educational pursuits of underrepresented students whose interest is in the fields of Medicine, Nursing, Allied Medicine (PT/OT/Speech Therapy, Pharmacy), Social Science, Education and Law.

 

  • Prefer applicants that have achieved at least a “B” average. Applicant must meet a minimum GPA of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale. (Note: While the Scholarship Committee expects applicants to present a “B” average, it will consider a number of other factors in making decisions, including academic potential, personal qualities, community services and extracurricular activities.)

  • Applicants must be either (a) graduating high school seniors and actively applying to an accredited college or university; OR (b) prior recipient of Ned K & Lillie V White Scholarship enrolled with an accredited college or university. Applicants in both category (a) and (b) must be classified by the institution as “degree-seeking” student, enrolled full-time and provide documentation such as bursar statement or college registration of enrollment. Funds will be distributed only when enrollment verification is received.

 

  • Applicant must be pursuing a degree from an accredited four-year college or university in the fields noted above (an exception can be made for 2-year degrees for licenses in nursing and others applicable fields upon evaluation).

 

  • Demonstrate financial need each year by completing the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid online at fafsa.gov) and provide to us the results from your SAR (Student Aid Report). When your FAFSA application is complete and submitted, you will get a Summary called the SAR (Student Aid Report), and on the SAR will be the Expected Family Contribution (EFC) displayed in the upper right-hand corner of your SAR. Include the Expected Family Contribution (EFC) in your scholarship application response when you answer the question on the scholarship application “Based on your FAFSA, what is the Expected Family Contribution (EFC)”.

  • Submit your most recent official transcript, not a student’s copy. Online transcript and grade reports are not acceptable. Sealed transcripts should be sent to the below address.

*  High school seniors must submit an official high school transcript of grades including an explanation of the school’s grade scale.

  • Submit proof of citizenship or permanent residency, acceptable forms of proof include: birth certificate, US passport, certificate of naturalization, certificate of citizenship and valid permanent resident card.

  • Two (2) letters of recommendation are required.

  • Recipients awarded scholarships funds will be released upon documentation of matriculation (enrollment verification as a “degree-seeking” student) from the accredited college or university.
